RESEARCH PAPER INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare a research paper 3 to 4 pages long, double spaced.

Prepare research papers in APA format, including References and Citations.

Note - Your research paper is to be your best work.  Students are expected to utilize library resources, and demonstrate competency in written communications and critical thinking. Newspaper and popular magazine articles, movies, videos and .com web sites are NOT acceptable sources for a research paper. Your sources MUST come from books, professional journals and periodicals, and .edu or .gov web sites. Be careful about .org web sites. Some of them are well done, presenting both sides of an issue with valid points, while other .org web sites are simply an attempt to get a radical view across to readers.

Note that research papers cannot be accepted after the due date stated in our course.

ANY WORK THAT IS NOT YOUR OWN AND IS NOT PROPERLY CITED AND REFERENCED IS PLAGIARISM. INSTANCES OF PLAGIARISM WILL BE DEALT WITH BY THE INSTRUCTOR AND OTHER APPROPRIATE COLLEGE STAFF.

Possible topics for your research papers include:

  1. Discuss reasons why females engage in less criminal behavior than males.
  2. Discuss the trend for property and violent crimes during the past 20 years.
  3. Discuss the concept of Restorative Justice.
  4. Discuss the various methods criminologists and others in the Criminal Justice System rely on for crime data.
  5. Discuss the Labeling Theory of criminal behavior.
  6. Discuss Durkheim’s Theory of Differential Association.
  7. Discuss the relationship between mental disorders and criminal behavior.
  8. Discuss the “causes” of interpersonal violence.

These are suggested topics. If you would like to research a different topic please be sure to check with the instructor to be sure your topic is appropriate for this course.

I encourage you to use the Paper Rater plagiarism checker to check your paper to be sure it has no more than a 24%  similarity score to work previously submitted by others. The Paper Rater site will also help you check your Grammar.
