Welcome! This research guide was created for students in Prof. Seid's Principles of Teaching Health Care (NUTR 118) class.

You have been assigned a research project that requires locating an original research article.

This guide is a customized resource for this particular course and assignment.

The resources on these pages will help you:

  • Find background information on your topic
  • Develop a search strategy
  • Find scholarly research articles using the library databases
  • Evaluate sources
  • Cite your sources using MLA format
  • Avoid plagiarism
  • Get additional help
  • Work from home

Use Primary Sources

Since your assignment calls for an original research article, you will be looking for PRIMARY SOURCES.

Examples of primary sources in the field of science would include:

  • Results of clinical trials
  • Social and political science research results
  • Factual, not interpretive
