Mr. Lewis, the civil rights leader who died on July 17, wrote this essay shortly before his death, to be published upon the day of his funeral.

 A civil rights leader and scholar, his commentary on Yesterday can be drawn from his experiences as a founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), 1960. His discussion of Today will open the doors for the campus conversation of how we interact in society.
